The Marvelous Land of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, is the second book of the Oz series. Set in the Land of Oz, the sequel to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is Set shortly after the events in the first book. The main character is a boy named Tip who is under the guardianship of Mombi - a witch. Tip plans to frighten Mombi with a scarecrow made of wood with a pumpkin head, naming him aptly Jack Pumpkinhead. Mombi is not fooled and plans revenge - causing Tip to escape with Jack that very night and to begin an amazing adventure.
