David Copperfield, by Charles Dickens, was first published 1850. The story chronicles the life and times of David Copperfield, born in 1820 six months after his father has died. When his mother re-marries, David has a falling out with his step-father and is sent to boarding school. Through a series of misfortunes David runs away to strike out on his own. Many memorable characters such as his housekeeper Peggoty and landlord Wilkins Micawber enter, leave, and re-enter David's circle as he searches for meaning and hapiness in life.
