Through the Looking Glass

Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was first published in 1871 and is the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The story opens as Alice is playing with "Snowdrop" and "Kitty" (white and black kittens) when she wonders what the world is like on the other side of a mirror's reflection. After climbing up on the mantel she is startled to discover that she is indeed able to step through the mirror into an alternative world of amazing places and "people".
