The Lilac Fairy Book (Volume 12 of the “Colored Fairy Books"). The “Colored Fairy Books”, by Andrew Lang, together make up one of the largest collections of fairy tales ever compiled from a broad range of cultures and nationalities. In all, the collection presents 437 fairy tales over twelve volumes – each named by a distinctive color. All the volumes have been richly illustrated primarily by Henry J. Ford. The Lilac Fairy Book, first published in 1910, contains the classics “A Lost Paradise”, “The Three Crowns”, “A Fish Story”, “The Brownie of the Lake”, and 29 other tales.
