The Hound of the Baskervilles

$1.00

The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was published in 1902 and was the third Sherlock Holmes novel. Sir Charles Baskerville had been found lying dead, apparently from a heart attack, on the grounds of Baskerville Hall. Dr. James Mortimer travels to London and asks Sherlock Holmes for help, fearing for the safety of Sir Charles’ heir who was traveling from America to take possession of the estate. Mortimer reveals that the Baskervilles have been afflicted by a curse, brought on by ancestor Hugo Baskerville’s dastardly deeds and deal with the devil. Mortimer fears the curse as Sir Charles’ face was twisted into a ghastly expression and the body was surrounded by the paw-prints of a “gigantic hound”…
