Great Expectations

$1.00

Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, was first published in three volumes in 1861 after running as a serial in the previous year. The story opens up when Pip, a 6-year old orphan, encounters an escaped convict in the local churchyard while visiting the graves of his mother, father, and siblings. Fearing for his safety, Pip aids the convict who is later recaptured. Pip continues his life in the home of his mean older sister and her gentle husband, but his life takes an unexpected turn when he is introduced to the odd Miss Havisham and her adopted daughter Estella. One of the greatest "coming of age" stories ever written, Dickens weaves a masterful tale sure to entertain.
