From the Earth to the Moon

$1.00

From the Earth to the Moon, by Jules Verne, was first published in 1867. Impey Barbicane, the President of the Gun Club, calls a special meeting to order to advance his idea of firing a projectile from Earth to the Moon. His archrival, Captain Nicholl of Philadelphia, declares Barbicane's idea preposterous and initiates ever-escalating bets over the practicality of the mission. In time another party, the French adventurer Michel Ardan, enters the conflict and desires to travel in the projectile. The three finally agree to occupy the projectile together. This begins the first part of a two part series that was nearly 100 years ahead of its time and inspired a generation of future scientist with the possibility of travel in space and landing on the moon.
